Conditions of Use
  • Passengers will be required to purchase the Initial Smartcard at Kshs. 100/= (Kshs. 30/= for deposit and Kshs. 70/= Credit Balance)
  • Passengers failing to produce a current valid Smart Card will not be allowed to enter the Smartbus.
  • Smart Cards are valid only if the minimum balance on the card is Kshs. 70/=
  • Smart Cards are transferable and can be shared/used by anybody.
  • Lost or Stolen Smartcards can be replaced at a cost of Kshs. 100/= (Kshs. 30/= for deposit and Kshs. 70/= Credit Balance).
  • Any Credit Balance on the lost/stolen Smartcard is not transferable.
  • Smart Cards are issued and accepted subject to the regulations of the company.
  • Misuse of the Card may lead to withdrawal of the Smartcard.

System Rules
  • A valid Smart Card is required from all passengers (Minimum Credit Balance of Kshs. 70/-)
  • Nobody is allowed into the bus without validating their Smart Card at the fare box.
  • All Passengers are expected to pay their Fare. Failure to pay is a crime, and may result in removal from the bus, denial of service, and arrest and prosecution.
  • Smoking, food, and drinks are not permitted on the bus.
  • Do not use profanity or abusive language. Be respectful and courteous to other passengers and Smartbus employees.
  • Speak quietly on the bus so that other passengers are not disturbed. Use cell phones courteously.
  • Passengers may use iPods and other audio devices only with earphones, so as not to disturb other passengers.
  • It is recommended that the passengers follow all instructions given by the Smartbus Crew for their own safety and comfort and that of other passengers.
  • Reserve the front seats for the elderly and passengers with disabilities.
  • Move carts and strollers to the back of the bus so the aisle remains clear. Children must be removed from strollers and remain seated with an adult at all times.
